Cheers! Montgomery native now crafting fine wines

Each year, Julie and I select a few worthy causes to support as individuals but also to support corporately through the gifts of our wine. Since we founded 5 POINTS CELLARS in 2005, we have been blessed to support many worthwhile projects, including Operation Walk, Arthritis Foundation, Operation with Love from Home , and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation.
This year, we selected the American Cancer Society , Huntington’s Disease Society of America and The V Foundation Wine Celebration. Earlier this year, we participated in the American Cancer Society’s event called Vintage Affair where more than $400,000 was raised in this dinner and wine auction. 5 Points Cellars was one of six wineries from across the country who participated in this worthy event.
On August 6-7, 5 Points Cellars will be one of a select number of wineries to participate in The Wine Celebration benefiting The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a charitable organization dedicated to helping find a cure for cancer. The V Foundation has funded over 350 grants totalling $90 million across the US. Of those grants, over 25 are in the Napa Valley and Bay Area, totalling over $6 million.
The other cause that we are supporting this year is one that is near and dear to both of us. Our dear friend, David Brenner died in 2006 after a long battle with Huntington’s disease. We now honor his life and indomitable spirit with the release of our 5 POINTS CELLARS 2007 BRENNER’S BLEND. This wine is a blend of the best clones of Cabernet Sauvignon from Kiona Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA of Washington State.
More importantly, all the proceeds from each and every sale of Brenner’s Blend will go to the Northern California Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA). We hope that this will bring not only money but awareness about this disease and the efforts that are ongoing in research to find a cure.
Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
An attitude of gratitude creates blessings. Help yourself by helping others. You have the most powerful weapons on earth, love and prayer.
Sir John Templeton
Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go.
